Blog: Next New

We all know that parking is vital to many of us. It is very difficult to find a parking especially in New York City or during holiday. Even though we  find an spot, we sometimes are not sure can we park here or not. Therefore, I think a new media could be about parking. This media can help users to find available parking spot near you. When one user is ready to leave, he can notify other users near him, and whoever responses faster, he or she can get the parking spot. This media also helps users to figure out whether this spot is parking meter or unavailable at this moment. It also translate into different language, which helps foreigners as well. This media takes a lot of effort and time to complete, but if someone has successfully create it, I strongly believe almost everyone will use it even though it might cost few dollars per month.

Blog: Wiki So Far

I haven't start to contribute our class wiki yet. However, I did some of the research about specific areas that I want to contribute. First, I want to talk about gaming. Although someone already contribute information about this area, but I want to add few of things, such as Rockstar, which is a video game company that creates a lot of interesting and good video games, such as GTA 5 and Red Death Redemption 2. Those are two of the most popular video games so far, and I also play them in my free time. Second, I want to contribute information about Tik Tok, which is a mobile application that creates and shares videos as well as live broadcasting. This app is becoming more and more popular in China, and it starts to spread out to other countries. Third, I want to contribute some information about VR gaming. This is new and interesting experience about gaming. It creates a 3-D artificial environment, and users can experience real feeling when they are playing. I believe VR gaming will

Blog: P2P

P2P filesharing stands for peer-to-peer file sharing, which allows users to access media file through the use of networking technology. Nowadays, people can access movies, songs, videos, books, and games that were shared by another user. In our daily lives, we often use google drive to drop file and share to other users. It becomes much more convenient because we can access the files in any device. In addition, iCloud is a good example of P2P filesharing. It allows users to share files from one device to another without any difficulty. According to the article, Peers Find Less Pressure Borrowing From Each Other  written by Wendy, Kaufman, it talks about P2P leading. Google and other big corporations teamed up to create a platform for people to borrow and lend money in a more easier and cheaper way. Leading Club allows borrowers to borrow money in a lower rate and lenders to lend money to more people by using this technology and platform. The online platform can tremendously reduce th

Blog: Privacy

Although new media has a lot of advantages, it has disadvantages in a subtle way. The biggest and serious issue is privacy. The biggest internet corporations collect our information when we are using the software. They collect our informations and provides and sells them to other big corporations. Those informations include website we visit, our shopping hobbit, and our interests that are analyzed by computer. Some websites of the biggest corporation put tracking software in our computer when we visit their websites. It clearly violates our privacy, but the supreme court ruled that it is ok for them to put tracking in our computers. I was shocked to hear that. In addition, the biggest internet corporation, Google, is monitoring our face and voice when we are using Google. There is a Youtuber who did an experiment. He first found out what kind of advertisements appeared on the website, which are mixed with different products and news. Then, he closed the website and pretended to talk ab

Blog: Advice

If Baruch College hired me to use new media to improve the college, I would implement 3 things. First, I will make a open online Baruch library where has all the textbook students need for different courses. By doing so, students can download the textbooks either for free or cheaper price. The problem is copyright. Therefore, Baruch should negotiate with the publications for a greater deal. We all know that if the textbook is too expensive, we can still find free online textbook online in some ways, but it might takes longer time. Then why don't publication lower the price for college students, so we can download the online version in a cheaper price. It benefits both sides, the publication and students. Second, I will implement a new and updated ID card which allows students and professors entering the building without swiping. We all know that it is annoying to take out our ID card and swipe every time we enter a new building. With a updated ID card, students can enter the buildi
